P1 have started a new exciting topic this month; 'The Garden Centre'. We have learnt about what a seed needs to grow and we got to plant our own sunflowers. We also planted a range of vegetables such as peas and spinach.
In February P1 have been exploring fruits and we even made Fruit Salad. We used a recipe and everyone had a special job to do. We also had fun cutting up fruit and vegetables during play. We used magnifying glasses to look closely at the different items.
P1 have started their new topic- Healthy Living. We have been looking at the size, shape and colour of fruits. We had a visit from Cancer Focus and heard a story about a very healthy goat called Genevieve. We also went to Tesco and learnt about where fruit and vegetables come from. We touched fish and even tried some lovely cheese.
P1 have had a very busy month. We had our Nativity- 'It's a baby'. We have been looking at STEM activities and had a challenge to build our own Christmas tree using just straws and playdough. We have also been using the BeeBot to explore coding and we can use the directional language 'forwards' and 'backwards'.
Our topic this half term is The Post Office. We have been very busy learning about what happens in a Post Office and learning about the job of a Post Worker. As part of our Science lessons we looked at different materials. We were set a challenge to find the best material to make Postman Pats coat out of to ensure that he would be kept dry in the rain.
P1 have been learning about patterns. We can copy and make our own patterns. On Friday 27th October we had a special Pattern Day. We dressed up in lots of different patterns and read a story about Elmer the elephant.
P1 have been learning about sequencing. We eat an apple and then looked at the pictures. We sorted to pictures into the correct sequence. Yummy!
