This month we have been looking closely at how toys work.
- We made circuits to help us understand how toys that light up work.
- We explored friction on different surfaces to see why toys with wheels move faster/slower on different surfaces.
- We used the water tray to test which toys float and sink, and made our own boats using junk art materials.
Our topic for this half term is Toys. Nanny from Mount Stewart came to visit with toys children would have played with a long time ago. Some of her toys were nearly 100 years old! We had lots of fun playing with the old fashioned toys.
This month has been a busy one in P2. We made our own bread, tested which materials keep bread fresh and tried breads from around the world. We also visited Auntie Anne's in Bloomfield Shopping Centre and made our own pretzels. We found out about the ingredients in the dough, made our own pretzel design and ate our creations to make sure they were as delicious as they looked. Everyone agreed that they did!
In P2, we have been learning about 'The Bakery'. We have created our own classroom bakery, made our own role play oven and followed a recipe to make Gingerbread Men. We are going to be trying breads from different countries too!
